Customers of Mashreq bank can now access their accounts with their Emirates identity cards.

Mashreq, a leading bank in the UAE region is now offering account opening, cash withdrawal, payment of utility bills, money deposit and personal information update through EIDA cards.

Mashreq has become the first bank in the UAE to incorporate EIDA cards into its banking system. Customers of the bank will be able to conveniently access their accounts with their Emirates identity cards. The most exciting feature of this new service is that the customers can also update their visa and passport details without having to visit the branch.

CEO of Mashreq, Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair said that this accomplishment is a step towards UAE’s nationwide shift to a “smart infrastructure” which is according to the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the ruler of Dubai. He also added that he viewed this partnership with the Emirates Identity Authority as a vital step towards offering customers of the bank with a simple, efficient and delightful customer experience.

Director General of the Emirates Identity Authority, Dr. Saeed Abdullah Al Ghafli, said that the latest achievement is in line with the objectives set by Emirates ID Authority in the plan for 2014-2016. More services are also expected to be integrated on the cards soon.

The announcement has paved the way for smoother and efficient account opening as all the information will be recorded on the E-forms through EIDA cards thus omitting the chances of data processing errors.
