Emaar developers will build a 2000 seat opera house in Dubai.

Dubai is to have its own opera house, consisting of a 2000-seat-multi-use venue, as a part of the Opera District in Downtown Dubai. The Opera District will be a platform for opera, theatre, concerts, art exhibitions, sports events and films, introducing more art and culture into Dubai.

The Opera house will be taking its design inspiration from the traditional wooden dhow sailing vessels which are seen at Dubai Creek.  The “bow” of the building will be holding the Dubai Opera’s main stage, orchestra and setting areas, where as the stretched “hull” will consist of waiting areas for guests,  getting taxis and parking cars.

This new project will attract more tourists and improve their customer experience as they look to explore the events and culture in Dubai.

“Dubai Opera, which is central to the new arts and lifestyle district, will be a spectacular addition to Downtown Dubai, already home to global icons such as Burj Khalifa. The state-of-the-art opera house and the varied lifestyle components of The Opera District will energise Dubai’s events and tourism sectors. With the city establishing its global reputation as an arts hub, the new development will also strengthen the ‘Dubai Art Season,’ which brings together the city’s vibrant arts initiatives,” said Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties.
