Dubai metro stations will be redesigned to incorporate art and culture into them, by displaying artwork and other ideas of creativity and design. Metro stations will have these art galleries completed in a year, which will be in time for the launch of Art Dubai 2015.
This step of transforming the stations was taken by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in order to enhance customer experience and provide an aesthetic environment encouraging art and culture.
“We want to reach everyone through arts. We want creativity to reach every individual. We want to inspire and communicate with every employee on his way to work, every student on his way to pursuing education and every tourist visiting Dubai” he said.
“We want to transfer Dubai Metro stations to museums accompanying passengers to all destinations,” he added.
Phase one of the project will consist of redesigning four of the main metro stations into art museums, with every museum having its own theme, which will represent specific parts of culture.
