Dubai Smart cabs will provide free WiFi and LCD interactive screens to the customers commuting in its taxis.

The launch of the smart taxis has gained momentum in Dubai, with a 100 Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) cabs, with two interactive LCD screens in each cab. The DTC has started out with the cabs serving customers of the Dubai airport and will soon cover all the 3,500 vehicles of DTC taxis by the end of April.

The taxi will also provide free WiFi in its service, and give the customer the feeling of a premium ride and a comfortable experience.

“This project is part of the DTC’s plan to avail edge-cutting technologies and smart services to customers. A three-year contract to this effect was awarded to the Techno Line Company at the end of last year, under which 3,500 DTC taxis will be fitted with LCD screens to keep pace with state-of-the-art technology and avail the technology of WiFi mobile internet connectivity,” said Mansour Rahma Al Falasi, Acting CEO of DTC.

The goal behind the smart taxis is to further establish Dubai’s initiative of the smart government and deliver quality customer service. The LCD screens in the cabs will also provide advertisements of the government services and inform customers of different areas the taxi drives through.

“Customers can use these LCD screens to log in to multitudes of websites including Emirates airline and Dubai Airports. They can also access the internet service on their own devices to review different advertisements published by the DTC and the RTA,” added Al Falasi.
