The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) aims to have over 100 testing lanes in Dubai by 2015.

RTA has launched a new plan to increase its efficiency of carrying out vehicle fitness tests. Executing the vehicle fitness test will become an easy task for customers in Dubai, since over hundred vehicle testing lanes will be introduced by the end of 2015.

As per RTA, Dubai has about 1.3 million registered vehicles, which have to undergo technical fitness test to be able to be driven on the Dubai roads. There are a total of 22 vehicle testing centers in Dubai which provide customer service and maintenance for smooth operations of the vehicles.

“There is a constant increase in the number of vehicles, which we need to serve without causing much inconvenience to the motorists. We have set up a plan for future development to expand our services with the growing demand. Last year we opened the Quick Registration Centre and now we have added to our capacity by opening the 22nd vehicle testing center in Dubai,” said Ahmad Hashem Behroozian, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, at the inauguration of SpeedFit Vehicle Testing Centre.

RTA is aiming to increase the speed of the service delivery to improve customer experience with the growth in lane capacity.

“We have a capacity to test 6,000 vehicles per day at the existing centers and, by the end of next year, we aim to almost double the number. We are looking to reach out to areas where we don’t have a presence right now and where there is growing population. Our challenge is to find appropriate land at convenient locations,” added Behroozian.
