The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new feature for customers in its latest update of its Smart Parking app, easing registration of vehicle number plates issued in other emirates to pay parking fees in Dubai via mobile phone. The app can be downloaded from Apple’s app store or Google Play for android platform.
Engineer Maitha Bin Udai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency stressed the need for the new app, given the exponential rise in the parking users in recent years. In order to streamline how parking fees is paid, RTA’s initiative to launch this mobile app will yield results and bring efficiency to the system. Bin Udai further added that that the new app has been designed after extensive research and studies targeting commuters, while keeping in mind the customer service experience of public parking users.
Bin Udai, said that the new feature will enhance customer satisfaction of the parking users, since they will be able to save time and effort as it allows users to pay through e-Purse, which is independent from telecommunication services providers. The new feature is a complementary addition to a wide range of services also offered through the mobile app. Maitha bin Udai further added that RTA has collaborated with Dubai Smart Government to add a balance to the e-purse of the smart app, which will allow payment directly through credit cards and Dubai Smart Government’s portal (mPay).
The new system requires customers to log in to the Smart App, pay the parking fee from the pre-paid balance, which will help them avoid any additional charges.
The latest app is in line with RTA’s vision of “Safe and Smooth Transport for All” through development of environmentally sustainable project, digitalization and avoiding the use of paper tickets.
