iOS 8 Upgrades Result in High Traffic on Du Network

Du worked in advance with its team to ensure upgrades for the iOS 8 are smooth and error free for customers.

Du has announced that the Apple traffic on their network has soared to record high, with du’s efforts in providing a seamless upgrade experience to iOS for the customers of Apple. Since the release of the iOS 8, there has been a 15 time more increase in App traffic upgrades.

In order to meet the high traffic predicted due to iOS 8 upgrades, du upgraded its internet content delivery network, so customers don’t face any issues and can be delivered a quality customer experience.

Burj Khalifa PoP (Point of Presence), on du’s set network, which provides service to the premises around the Burj, was seen to have the highest volume of downloads. Multiple users connected through du’s mobile network in order to upgrade by using their devices as Personal Hotspot by using the WiFi requirements for the iOS 8 upgrade.

Saleem AlBalooshi, Executive Vice President – Network Development & Operations in du, highlighted that a large part of their customer base comprised of iPhone users and that they were able to evaluate and expect the high volume of traffic beforehand, since Apple’s smartphones are very popular among customers. He said du was focused on guaranteeing that customers enjoy a seamless experience while updating their devices, which was done through taking measures in advance so customers across UAE could download the iOS 8 without any problems.
