The Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi (DoT) has arranged for 30 free shuttle buses which will be running passengers from the Abu Dhabi suburbs to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and back during Ramadan. This is being done taking into consideration the Iftar project which is being carried out in the mosque.

The service will run from 4pm till 6:45 pm, while the departure of the buses from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque will be between 7:45pm till 9pm every day. The mosque plans to give 20,000 free Iftar meals daily, for the ones who are unable to buy themselves food for opening their fast.

Customers will also be given the service of, Park and Ride, which lets Motorists Park at the Zayed Sport city, at the entrance of Abu Dhabi City, so they can conveniently take shuttles which get them into the Abu Dhabi City without any delay.

This will further enhance the customer experience of the passengers taking the express shuttles, since they won’t have to worry about car parking space and it will save their time.

Mohamed Nasser Al Otaiba, , Acting General Manager of the Bus Office at DoT, talked about the importance of this initiative and the goal of providing people who are fasting with quick transport service for Iftar. These steps will reduce traffic buildup during the holy month and facilitate people who are travelling.

The DoT has also publicized to the media, that bus services will be on a hold during Iftar time and Sohour time in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, for the month of Ramadan.

Bus services will be interrupted in Abu Dhabi, between 6.30pm-8.30pm and again from 3.30am-5.30am, and 6.30pm-8.30pm in Al Ain.
