Etisalat has taken the lead in providing the widest 3G and 4G network coverage in the UAE. At present, 3G network covers 99.8% of the country, with more than 6000 indoor base stations. Enhancing speed and network coverage from 42Mbps to an additional 84Mbps would further benefit customers with improved voice quality and faster data transmission speeds.
Saeed Al Zarouni, Senior Vice President, Business Planning and Technology Evolution, states:
‘Etisalat continuously invests to provide optimum speeds in outdoor, as well as, indoor coverage to ensure subscribers get the optimum service’.
Besides providing widest 3G network, Etisalat also rolled out the region’s first 4G LTE network technology, covering almost 85% of the inhabited areas of the UAE. The advanced 4G network technology provides subscribers a high speed data transfer rates of 150Mbps, with an additional upgrading capacity of reaching speeds of 300Mbps. In addition, the telecom operator is also working to increase the number of base stations to over 7500 by the end of the year.
