The “Smart Bank” initiative has been launched by Dubai Islamic Bank. The introduction of this new initiative is in alignment with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for smart governance. The main aim of introducing “Smart Bank” is to substantially increase quality of customer service delivered.

The bank aims to introduce this concept for all its individual and corporate customers. One of the primary aims to be accomplished by DIB is to create a paperless environment. The new platform will enable the customers to conduct all their banking transactions electronically with a lot more convenience. The service will be particularly helpful for new customers. They will be able to accomplish several banking tasks including opening of bank accounts, receiving of ATM card and issuance of check books in less than 30 minutes. The system has also been integrated with Emirates Identity Authority. Therefore, customers do not need to go through the lengthy hassle of filling forms. All processing will be done via digital signatures on handheld devices.

An electronic link was also established recently for Dubai Islamic Bank by Dubai Smart Government. The purpose of establishing this link was to automate processes and help government departments easily make payments to suppliers. DIB is working hard to ensure it keeps its pace with the Smart Government Initiative by integrating new technologies into its service offerings.
