Dubai Taxis will be accepting credit, debit and Nol cards for payment from customers.

The initiative of Dubai becoming a Smart city is looking to achieve many goals, one of which is Dubai Taxi service accepting Nol, Debit and Credit cards for payment. Visitors and residents don’t need to worry about the hassle of carrying cash on them to pay for their taxi ride anymore.

Customers using the taxi will not have to worry about the trouble of getting currency exchanged and can use the convenient service of paying through their cards and enjoying a quick and easy experience.

Dr Yousef Al Ali, RTA’s Public Transport Agency CEO highlighted the goals of achieving this service in a four phase plan, which will begin with 20 airport taxis, next will be 155 Hala taxis after two months and followed by 8700 taxi fleets around mid of 2015.

“This initiative will indisputably constitute an added value service to public transport commuting in general and to taxi rides in particular. Using this latest mode of taxi payments, we expect the ridership to increase, especially when we increase our fleet by 2020.” Added Mr. Al Ali

Al Ali also stressed on the effort that has gone into bringing this service around for the customers, since it needed to connect the RTA data with the network of Network International, the company which delivers the payment solutions.

“This initiative is an answer to the long standing demand of the customers but it takes time to implement since the new features need to have RTA system directly connected to the banks worldwide.”

All customers using the Dubai transport system will have a trouble free experience which has been made much easier than before. The Road and Transport Authority is aiming to provide its customers with an easy and convenient customer service.
