The new direct route from UAE to Riga was celebrated in the inauguration ceremony that informed customers of the launch of the new route.

Etihad Airways has partnered with AirBaltin, a Latvian carrier to offer direct flights from Abu Dhabi and Riga. The AirBaltin will be functioning on an Airbus A319 aircraft from this week onwards between UAE’s capital and Riga.

The Airbus will have 14 seats for the Business Class and 102 seats in Economy Class for the passengers travelling the plane. It is reported that the flight will operate four times during a week to and fro the Latvin Capital and Abu Dhabi.

This new travel route and plan will enhance the experience of the customer, by providing them a smooth travel, which is direct and hassle free. The frequent number of flights will offer customers better service, since they can now choose which dates to travel on depending on their needs and not having to worry about flight or date availability.

The Airlines will use their flight codes on connections,  ‘EY’ the Etihad code, will be placed on the AirBaltic services beyond cities, which will include Alesund, Barcelona, Bergen, Billund, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Lappeenranta, Oslo, Prague, Stavanger, Stockholm, Tallinn, Turku, Vienna and Vilnius.

AirBaltin will be placing its ‘BT’ flight code on Etihad Airwary flights further than Abu Dhabi to Cairo, Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok, Amman and Muscat.

Latvian Prime Minister, Valdis Dombrovskis, said at the launch: “Today marks the first time Riga has been linked by air with Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s fastest growing cities, and a global hub for airBaltic’s code-share partner, Etihad Airways.

“This direct flight will open up a range of business and leisure opportunities which previously never existed. It will support trade development between Latvia and the rest of the world, increase tourism in both directions, and result in a range of new connection options for customers of both airlines.”

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of AirBaltic, added: “Today’s event is about two airlines working together, using the strengths and opportunities of each carrier’s network, and putting an attractive travel proposition to our most important target – the customer.

“Working with Etihad Airways, we look forward to making this new route and the connectivity it offers over Riga and Abu Dhabi a great success, and we will continue to look at ways to expand our network in the future.”

The chief executive highlighted an important fact that the most important target to please was the “customer”. The launch of the new route will definitely please many customers who wish to travel to Riga or from there to Abu Dhabi, and have to change flights, find suitable connections and or struggle for dates.
