Students Develop ‘Metromate’: An App To Provide Metro Schedule

Metro users can now save travel time by planning their journey in a much better way with the help of a new smart phone app.

This smart wonder app comes with numerous benefits for Metro travelers. Its smart station detective system, containing a map of the entire Metro network helps travelers to locate their nearest station, see accurate train timings and last train alerts, and provides time to destination information for all operational stations on the Dubai Metro.

MetroMate also helps commuters to keep a check on their credit and to receive notifications when it is running low. For traveler easiness, app is available in both English and Arabic versions.

The smart commuter transport system has been designed by Ali Razzouk, student of the University of Wollongong in Dubai. Explaining the purpose of developing the app, Ali stated:

‘Using the Metro on a daily basis, I often found myself frustrated by just missing trains, or dashing to the station only to have to wait for some time before the Metro arrived at my stop. This app is intended to take the guesswork out of Metro travel by providing an accurate, real-time schedule to help users find the next and last trains, as well as journey times to their destination.’
