Vodafone, in an announcement, revealed that it has the fastest data network in Qatar. The telecom giant also stated that it is offering the widest 4G+ coverage in the region. The company will also be undertaking substantial upgrades and expansions of their 3G & 4G network.
Kyle Whitehill, CEO, Vodafone Qatar, said that Vodafone is one of the leading telecommunication companies in the world and aims to offer premium services to customers in Qatar. He highlighted the unprecedented level of investment in the region which includes more than QR500 million in network infrastructure. Additionally, the company has mobilized teams of hundreds of engineers and technicians to ensure premium customer service experience.
Vodafone began its plan to revamp and enhance its network in January with the introduction of latest technology. The company undertook the installation of 134 new outdoor sites, 42 indoor sites, 290 4G outdoor sites and 25 4G indoor sites. The upgrade started off with Al Aziziyah, Al Rayyan, Murayk, Salwa Road, Bin Omran, Forousiya and Industrial Area.
Vodafone’s Chief Technology Officer Ramy Boctor said that the latest up gradation will ensure high speed communication on the network, reflected by Ookla Speed test results, which shows Vodafone now has the fastest data network in Qatar. He further added that customers can now seamlessly use social network websites and play videos without any lag.
Vodafone’s Chief Commercial Officer Marc Norris pointed out that around 70% of 4G network sites in Qatar are now 4G+, which means that customers can enjoy internet speed of up to 150 Mbps and an average of 30Mbps. He said that latest changes have been made in response to customers’ demand for better data services, which are not only fast, but reliable too.
Vodafone plans to start the second phase of their network up gradation, which includes setting up of state of the art technology on the remaining sites across Qatar. The company will increase the number of indoor and outdoor 4G & 4G+ sites, which will ensure greater coverage.
