CCCP sector of DED has discovered counterfeit cosmetics of prestigious brands by raiding a warehouse in Ras Al Khor.

The Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in the Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai, discovered and seized 1.2 million pieces of cosmetic products, by searching a warehouse in Ras Al Khor, DED said.

The goods taken away consisted of counterfeits of famous brands and were a total of Dh9.5m in value.  The raid took place under the effort of CCCP which aims to protect consumers from fake products and safeguard the local trade.

“The raid was conducted as part of our ongoing efforts to protect trademarks and consumers. It was also the result of excellent teamwork, which included field visits and inspection campaigns,” said Abdullah Al Shehi, Director of Intellectual Property Protection Department at CCCP.

The CCCP shows its concerns for the customers and provides them with thorough service by conducting these inspections as a part of interrogation after consumer complaints and also to keep the market under check.

The confiscated goods included 756,000 mascaras, which was a total of 66 percent of the goods locked, 240,000 pieces of face powder and 120,000 pieces of other cosmetics such as lipsticks.
