UAE nationals will now be able to renew their passport via smart phones as the Ministry of Interior introduced the new online service which brings convenience and hassle-free renewal of passports. The renewal is possible through the app except for some special cases. This is likely to reduce the traffic at the offices as majority of customers can just get their passports renewed through this service.

Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports explained how the latest initiative is likely to help save time, while offering a reliably accurate channel to renew passports. He further added that the project is part of higher leadership’s commitment to provide premium customer service to UAE citizens. The new initiative is also in line with the ministry’s vision for streamlining the identity authentication process. The Ministry of Interior plans to continually update the app and add more features and services. The services will be available to all segments of the society.

Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashedi, Head of Naturalization Department at the Ministry of Interior’s Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs sector said that the passport renewal fees will be automatically deducted and the renewed passports will be mailed to the citizens. He encouraged citizens from all parts of society to use the online passport renewal service, regardless of location, in order to experience premium customer service through smart phone apps.
