Customers of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), will be receiving their water and electricity bills electronically, as soon as the shift to the green billing system is completed. The third phase of the electronic billing has begun, as per the announcement of DEWA on Sunday.
DEWA is looking to become more economically sound, with saving natural resources and turning its billing system into an electronic one. Not only will this reduce hazardous effects on the environment but also improve customer satisfaction, by giving customers easy access to their billing.
Abdullah Al Hajri, Executive Vice-President of Customer Services, highlighted the importance of the Green bills and their benefit to the environment. He mentioned, that customer should send their recent and in use email addresses to DEWA, in order to get their bills without any delay or problem.
“Shifting to the green electronic bills provides a convenient, safe and quick way for customers to check their monthly bills anytime, anywhere. It also enables customers to keep records of all their bills and electronic payments,” Al Hajri added.
In a press release, DEWA explained the impact of the electronic shift on the environment and public health. It stated that, up till June 22, a high number of 197,119 customers, signed up for the Green Bill, since the time of its launch in August 2012. Switching of these customers has helped decrease carbon dioxide emissions by about 193.3 tones.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, shed light on the electronic billing, being in line with His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s smart government initiative. This encourages DEWA to improve its services and raise its quality standards. He also spoke about the importance of electronic bills, for the ease and convenience of customers, who can quickly check their electronic bills and also make payments online.
