Nearly 60 major UAE and international delegates will be carving out plans to enhance state services at the Government Summit meeting in Dubai, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

During the three-day event, 10 – 12 February, influential decision-makers will have insightful discussions about adoption of technology, exploration of top managerial practices, from both private and public sector, and examining best business models that ensure both customer satisfaction and excellent customer service. Moreover, the use of apps in smart devices would also be discussed for 24/7 government services.

Pointing out the implications of Government Summit for state services worldwide, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said, “We assure that developing the governments’ services is not an Emirati objective but rather global. It is an objective that the UAE considers a foundation for achieving community welfare and facilitating life to create opportunities for the next generations. This universal gathering for officials, thinkers and innovators is a gathering for the best interest and happiness of mankind.” “The Government Summit is a pure national production and a gift from the UAE to the world aiming to serve humanity,” His Highness said.

Apart from royals, senior government officials, and corporate leaders the summit attendees also include British billionaire Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group; Klaus Schwab, president and founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF); and William Danvers, deputy secretary-general of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Moreover, mayors of prominent cities would be attending a session on ‘World Class Services: First-Hand Perspectives from Global Cities’. The Summit carries on its partnerships with many important international organisations like the UN, OECD and WEF.

While commenting on prospective advantages of the high-profile gathering at the summit, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Head of the Organising Committee said, “The summit has underlined its global credentials by hosting an elite line-up of international speakers including high-level government officials and key decision-makers, who will lead an interactive discussion agenda to further enhance government services around the world.” He also explained how the summit embodies Shaikh Mohammed’s UAE Vision of technology-fueled and smart services while reinforcing public and private sector collaboration simultaneously.

Apart from working out the best plans for future of government services, the event would also have the Best M-Government Service Award ceremony. Almost 30 applicants have already qualified for the finals, however the names of winners would only be revealed at a private ceremony. Shaikh Mohammad announced that the awards would be held in conjunction with the Smart Government Initiative.

The Government Summit also has a free mobile app for Android and IOs where users are provided with real-time information about the Summit. The Augmented Reality feature of this app makes it “first of its kind in the region”.
