The breathtaking firework show shined over Palm Jumeirah, the World Islands and Burj Al Arab.

Families and friends got together on different locations to get the best view possible to the New Year’s Eve fireworks display that had been the talk of the town in the days leading to the event, especially after Dubai won the bid to host the world Expo 2020.

Dubai broke the world record of fireworks that was previously set by Kuwait at 77,282 shots fired. Dubai successfully celebrated New Years with 400,000 shots, that left all viewers, from those who were present to those who were watching it live on TV,  mesmerized by the shining lights that brightened the sky with the colors of the UAE flag.

The show began 20 seconds before midnight and people came from all around the world to watch the spectacular show as millions were glued to their television screens waiting to watch the record breaking fireworks. The show covered 61.6 miles of the city’s waterfront and dazzled over the glorious landmarks of Dubai, including the Palm Jumeirah and Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab.

The firework set was designed by a very famous and world renowned fireworks company called Fireworks by Grucci. They used a total of 100 computers to align the display and bring it together and more than 200 technicians to design the six-minute show, according to the GWR.

People travelling from around the world to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Dubai also took part in spectacular New Year celebrations and parties, along with exceptional hospitality industry, making for an overall exceptional trip.

“I travelled all the way from Egypt and it has been a fabulous trip a truly spectacular show,” said Cherif Farrog.

“I came with my family from Abu Dhabi just to watch the fireworks. We started at 12 noon, reached here at 5pm. It’s been a wonderful evening, really worth the wait,” said Hamid Mirza, an Engineer living in the capital.
