Commuters Report Damages Via App to RTA
4 years ago by

The Madinati app is helping the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai to collect emergency reports for damages to properties. Since the launch of the app back in March 2013, a total of 438 reports were received.

Commuters have been reporting various issues such as if traffic lights were not functional, if there were any damages to the pavement or signboards etc by sending images to RTA through their smartphones. A built-in feature in this app automatically detects geographical location that needs reporting.

Speaking on the occasion, Director of RTA Customers Service Ahmed Mahboob said that these reports submission helped resolve serious problems. Ever since the app was first introduced, it has been able to accomplish many of its aims. Mr. Mahboob added that it has helped inspectors save a lot of time and effort. The inspectors can now carry periodic site inspections to spot any damage and accordingly inform concerned authorities to take most suitable action.

The basic purpose of introducing this app is to report potential hazards to RTA ensuring increased safety and better experience for road users. The launch of the app was aimed to contribute to the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai to transform the governance of Dubai and to better serve the public.

The app is available in both English and Arabic languages. The app can be downloaded using any of the menus in both languages. The user taps onto “Madinati For Emergency Reports” and clicks on “New Report” to create a new report. There is a “Description Box” provided in which the user can write complete description of the report and select the location of the site to be reported by tapping, “Select Site”. Once all required details have been added the user can upload an image to further explain the situation and tap on “Send” button to send the report.
